Im Sonderforschungsbereich (SFB) 1349 "Fluor-Spezifische Wechselwirkungen" forschen 50 Promovierende und PostDocs in 22 Arbeitsgruppen der Freien Universität Berlin, der Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, der Technischen Universität Berlin des Fritz-Haber-Instituts der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, der Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung, der Universität Bayreuth und der Universität Stuttgart an fluorchemischen Fragestellungen. Ziel ist, die komplexen Interaktionen zu verstehen und zu steuern, die von fluorierten Baueinheiten in chemischen Systemen ausgehen können. Dafür wird komplementär und synergistisch die große Expertise der beteiligten Arbeitsgruppen in Synthese/Biosynthese, Analytik/Spektroskopie und Theorie/Modellierung verknüpft, um das Verständnis Fluor-Spezifischer Wechselwirkungen, ihres konzeptuellen Unterbaus und ihrer zahlreichen Konsequenzen systematisch auszubauen.
